Federated Press has innovated by introducing its multimedia CD-ROMs on the market. These CDs allow you to hear the presentations that took place at our conferences and courses, and to read the documents and see the overheads that were provided by the expert speakers. It's not quite like having been there: you don't get the coffee breaks... But you do get the essence of the presentation -- where and when it is convenient for you. Click here for the list of featured presentationsThe presentations below have been selected from the thousands that appear on our course and conference CDs. Each of our CDs contains hours of similar presentations, along with original papers and overheads used by the presenters. |
Access to the ShowcaseAccess to the showcase is completely free: It is a privilege granted at no cost to the recipients of our E-Newsletter. If you have received an issue of our E-NewsletterIf you have received an issue of the E-Newsletter -- through your subscription or as part of a promotional campaign -- you will notice that it has a direct link to a presentation selected because of its relevance to your professional activity. Just follow the link to have access to the presentation. You may also have access to the presentations from the Programs Page, that lists all the presentations presently selected for the Showcase. The e-mail address that we used to send you the E-Newsletter is your entry code to our the Showcase: just type it in the selection box next to the presentation of your choice to launch the presentation. Need we remind that this is costless: giving access to this valuable resource is our way of thanking you for taking the time to visit our Web site. To become a subscriberEven if you have not received an invitation in our E-Newsletter, you can still have access to the presentations featured in our Showcase by becoming a subscriber.
If you are not a subscriber, just click the "Register" button below and the subscription form will appear. Once you have filled and submitted your form, you will receive an e-mail message inviting you to confirm your registration. This extra step is intended to prevent a third party from entering your address in our subscribers' list without your consent. As soon as your subscription is validated, you can have access to the Showcase. How This WorksEverything in these presentations has been kept as simple as possible, to allow you to focus on the message. Required Configuration: RealPlayer®You will need RealPlayer® to listen to these presentations -- in addition, of course, to speakers or headphones. This program can be downloaded at no cost from the RealNetworks Web site, by clicking on the icon below. Listening to the presentationEach presentation is contained in a page of its own. Immediately below the presenter's biographical notes is a window containing an embedded viewing area for the RealPlayer interface. The rest of the page consists of the series of overheads used by the presenter. As soon as you reach the page that contains the presentation of your choice, your computer will begin loading the RealPlayer software. This process may take up to 30 seconds, depending on factors such as your computer's performance, the speed of your connection to the Internet, etc. If, for some reason, your machine cannot accommodate the embedded RealPlayer, you may use the link provided for that purpose. This will launch RealPlayer in a separate window: you will then have to come back to your Web browser to view the overheads. Selecting a portion of the presentationThe RealPlayer area of the page contains important information, as can be seen from the example below.
On one side of the player is a list of the headings of the various segments of the presentation. These segments are audio portions of some 5 to 8 minutes. The heading for the portion presently being played appears highlighted: if you let the presentation play, the headings will be highlighted in succession. Each of the segment titles is a link. Thus, clicking on one heading will allow you to skip to the segment in which that topic is discussed. This operation may also require a bit of time to be processed by your computer -- usually less than 15 seconds. The other side of the player window is a list of the sub-headings discussed in each segment; a new list is displayed whenever the presentation moves into a new segment. |
